AAY's favorite four ingredients for an amazing engagement portrait session. It's a check list worth looking over... Engagement sessions do not need to be big flashy productions, they just need to be all about you.
1. Share Your Story
How did you meet? When did you "know" you found the one for you? How and where did you propose? Where do you seem to always find yourselves on a Friday evening or a Sunday morning?... These are just a few things we might ask you to help us build the perfect engagement session around. Everyone's love story is different, getting to know how your relationship got started and what makes you so unique will help us connect with you along the wedding way.
2. Feel Amazing
Your engagement photo day is the perfect time to schedule your trial run for Bridal makeup. We have just the one too, Makeup by Alyssa Walsh is an awesome listener and amazing artist who brings out your natural beauty. Professional airbrush makeup smoothes even the most perfect complexions, accentuates your fine features, and keeps you from washing out in professional photography... Plus it's super fun and makes you feel amazing. So, you have the makeup trial run scheduled, time to pick what to wear. Consider complimenting colors and patterns that you feel comfortable and super confident in... If that means jeans and T's, summer dresses and pants, or suits and stilettos, love what you're in!
3. Real Emotions
This starts with getting to know us, which of course we've already got a head start on in #1... So, now it's time to choose a location that means something to you, a place where you can reminisce, engage with, and settle into. Reflecting on memorable times helps bring emotions to the surface and real emotion is incredibly gorgeous in photography. You can expect us to ask you questions that help you direct your attention on each other instead of our cameras... We will wait nearby for you to invite us in with a look our way. Engagement sessions are great for so many reasons, we get to know each other, you get some practice modeling in front of a lens, and its a great excuse to grow a little closer together... or a perfect start to a crazy great date night with your fiancé.
I'm not talking an all-dayer here... Just 1-2 hours of hanging out and standing around looking beautiful. We'll set the time of our shoot to fit perfectly with the rising or setting sun. When I say patience I am really talking about settling in and being in the moment... No rush, no shuffling along to the next pose. Just a relaxing walk with some stops along the way and a few gentle stylizing cues to make you look your best and build a photo that you love to look at. Not just because it's easy on the eyes, but because it brings you back to a place and moment in time where you felt your best with your favorite person in the world.
